Australian Ethical’s social media channels are a space for sharing content related to a more ethical, sustainable future for society, animals, and the environment. Posts from external pages may be shared on the basis that the topics are aligned with Australian Ethical's values. The inclusion of a post does not mean that Australian Ethical invests in, has provided funding to, or has a partnership with, that company, individual, or organisation unless we mention that Australian Ethical has a particular connection or interest in the subject matter of the post.
In order to ensure this is a safe and productive place for conversations related to our purpose, we require you to adhere to the following guidelines for interacting on our social media channels:
- Keep it Friendly: Please be kind, courteous and respectful at all times. Use respectful language and understand that we all have different experiences and backgrounds.
- Keep it Relevant: avoid going off topic and make sure any contributions to the page or post are relevant to Australian Ethical and our values.
- Don’t be offensive or resemble a ‘Troll’: Please ensure you do not post remarks that could be considered racist, sexist, rude, defamatory, obscene, offensive, discriminatory or as attacking others.
- Keep it legal: Do not post anything that is illegal in any way.
- Protect copyright: Please do not post material to the page that infringes the intellectual property rights of others.
- No Spamming: Do not spam our social media channels, or post or upload promotional material.
- No Climate Denying: We support and respect the global science around climate change and global warming, and that the burning of fossil fuels is a large contributor. We won’t allow the sharing of any non-scientific theories or misinformation.
- Protect your privacy: Please don’t post personal information that you would not be comfortable sharing with a stranger. We recommend that you don’t post personal information, including your customer reference number, account numbers or customer details.
We will make the decision whether a particular post falls into any of the categories above and we reserve the right to hide or delete any post, or to permanently ban users who breach our community guidelines.
Our social media channels are monitored from Monday-Friday. If you come across any comments on our pages that you consider to be inappropriate, we urge you to report it directly or use the Facebook tools to either 'mark as spam' or 'report as abuse'.
