Half year distribution

22 January 2010

The Income, Balanced and Property Trusts paid a distribution on 19 January 2010.

The Larger Companies, Smaller Companies and International Equities Trusts did not pay a distribution in this half-year period. The Smaller Companies and International Equities Trusts focus on capital growth rather than income. Investors in these funds typically have a longer-term investment horizon and are able to accept more volatility.

A moderate level of distribution is normally expected from the Larger Companies Trust, but this does depend on the performance of the investments within the Trust over any given distribution period.

These three trusts have recovered well since the GFC but, in particular, losses due to movements in foreign currency exchange rates (both in the current period and carried forward from previous periods) has meant that no distribution has been made for this period.

Investors in these funds who require some cash from their investments can make a withdrawal from their investment. Investors who require a regular income stream may want to consider whether our Income and Balanced Trusts are a more appropriate investment.
